About End-of-Year Award Shows

At the end of the year (December 2023/January 2024), the major broadcasting and music networks come together to award artists for their achievements throughout the year. Rookie of the Year (or Best New Artist) is one such award, and it's a HUGE honor for a rookie group to win as it signifies their impact on the industry from debut.

The below award shows are considered the 5 major shows. If ZEROBASEONE were to win ROTY on all five, they would achieve a ROOKIE GRAND SLAM! The only temporary group to achieve this so far is WANNAONE.

  • (KR Fans) Prepare Melon and Genie accounts

  • STREAM the MV on Youtube and the Youth in the Shade album on Spotify, Apple Music, KR music platforms, etc.

  • Spread (positive) noise about ZB1! Especially for the awards where judging is a factor, EVERYTHING is important!

Awards for Rookie Grand Slam

🏆Circle Chart Music Awards

  • Formerly known as Gaon Chart Music Awards

  • Award Name: New Artist of the Year (Physical or Digital) - NEW: Physical, Unique Listeners (Digital), Global Streaming (Digital)

  • 100% based on charts (digital award) or sales (physical award)

  • Tracking: within 30 days of best release (digital) or 6 weeks of best release (physical) BEFORE NOVEMBER 30TH

  • Tips: Physical award is likely for Youth in the Shade. Digital award is too close to call. If MELTING POINT counts, we can extend our lead by having higher streams or sales.

🏆Seoul Music Awards - ZEROBASEONE WINS ✅

  • Award Name: New Artist Award (2-3 awards, combined genders)

  • 50% judging, 25% album/music sales (Hanteo), 25% voting

  • Voting takes place on the K-POP SEOUL app! (Round 2 additionally has voting on IDOLCHAMP and PODOAL)

  • Tips: Need to dominate voting for the highest advantage. Judging is has been really weird in past shows even with high voting and sales, so just hope for the best overall!

🏆Melon Music Awards - ZEROBASEONE WINS ✅

  • Award Name: Best New Artist (2 awards, combined genders)

  • 60% digitals, 20% judging, 20% voting

  • Voting takes place on Melon app (Koreans only)

  • Tips: Only Youth in the Shade counts for this award! Need to stream on Melon and dominate voting for the best advantage.

🏆MAMA Awards - ZEROBASEONE WINS ✅

  • Award Name: Best New Male/Female Artist

  • 20% judging, 40% song downloads/streaming (25% Korea (Circle Chart), 15% Global (Spotify)), 40% sales

  • Tips: MAMA 2023 is confirmed for Nov. 28th-29th! Keep streaming "In Bloom" and Youth in the Shade on Korean platforms + Spotify!

🏆Golden Disc Awards - ZEROBASEONE WINS ✅

  • Award Name: Rookie of the Year (2-3 awards, combined genders)

  • 60% physicals, 40% judging

  • Tips: Tracking ends mid-December, currently it looks like MELTING POINT sales will surpass YOUTH IN THE SHADE sales, so hoping that is enough. Judging is also part of it so increasing streams and hype about ZB1 will help!

  • Award Name: Rookie of the Year (ONE award)

  • 35% global voting, 35% physicals, 10% digitals, 20% social media/broadcast/global authentication

  • Takes place in February, tracking ends in December (last year it ended on December 31)

  • Voting takes place on the Whosfan app!

  • Tips: Need to dominate voting for the highest advantage.

  • 60% digitals, 20% judging, 20% voting

  • Voting takes place on the Genie app (Koreans only)

  • Tips: The comeback might be too late to count! Need to stream as much as possible on Genie and need people with the Genie app for voting.
